Koh Phi Phi – video

We found Koh Phi Phi Don to be a mixture of first class natural beauty but with rubbish heaps around the next corner; of loud tourist-town commercialism but with nearby gorgeous, quiet beaches.

A mix that kind of worked for us. It’s an expensive place to stay, our costliest room for the night (1500b / £30), although we didn’t hunt too hard for bargains.

There’s a good variety of things to do (beaching, walking, diving, shopping, partying, eating, boat trips…) and great night-life.

The beach from the film “The Beach” on Koh Phi Phi Leh was great to see but so packed full of boats and people we just craved to enjoy it with a bit of peace and quiet – never going to happen! We did some fantastic snorkelling in a bay near there with perfect visibility, a stunning variety and quantity of fish all around us and even saw an eel working it’s way under rocks and coral, sniffing out something to eat.

Overall we liked Phi Phi a lot but can imagine many people coming here and not really enjoying it. Even with the amazing natural beauty, maybe it’s a bit of a ‘marmite‘ kind of place?! What do you think?

Fantastic pictures. Particularly the elephant and the Ursula Andress ones. Stunning video too. Who is Mylo?
